Wollman Skating Rink, Central Park, Night. This photo won FIRST PRIZE in the 2008 Central Park Winter Photo Contest. It was a pretty big contest with about 100,000 votes cast, and then a jury which included one of my favorite photographers – Bruce Davidson.
Yes, there is an impressionistic feel since the skaters are blurred but the city is stock still as is the one skater in the foreground. Magic happens once in a while, without any magicians being present. Print was selected for a high-end 2010 New York Calendar by Graphique de France. 2005.
