Do No Evil

Forget about all the data Google has about you.  Data under the bridge.  But Google has had more harmful effects on the web.  It’s the targeted ads they present.  And if you write a blog that is mostly about diamonds, but every once in a while you want to write about sapphires.  You are going to get sapphire ads.

So that may not seem that bad, but as a writer, if you are dependent on Google Ads, and maybe you began writing dramatic short stories, but after a while you tried to MONETIZE your site.  That will be a big mistake, unless you get to choose advertisers that are interested in your short stories.

But even that isn’t such a big deal.  Just don’t MONETIZE your site.  But guess what?  Simply by writing this drivel about Google and the side effects of every giant company, little guys get hurt.  In other words, this post is not going to help my photo blog ranked very well in organic Google Search.  So I’m shooting myself in the foot by even writing about this.

And the problem is, photography isn’t really on my mind right now.  I’ve been thinking a lot about computers and the effects of the CPU on us.  But I’ll save that for the next post.

Combining two images (that’s all) with a program that I don’t believe was designed for this, called Photomatix Pro. It’s really for HDR, but it can be used to do more surreal images.
