Current Equipment List - Beckerman

Medium and large format negatives scanned with Epson 4990 scanner.

35mm film scanned with Minolta Dimage 5400 film scanner. 16-bit. 35mm grayscale file is about 78 mb.

Current Film Favorite: tri-x, rated at asa 400

Current Film Developer: Ilford DD-X (1:4)

Printer: Epson 4800

Paper: Crane / Museo Silver Rag

Camera: Leica M6

Lenses: 28 f1.9 Voigtlander, Leica f2.0 (non-asph) 50mm

Light Meter: Gossen Luna-Pro digital handheld reflective

Photoshop Plugins: Pixel Genius - Photokit

35mm Film Scanner: Konica/Minolta Dimage 5400 (no longer available, but I’d recommend the latest Nikon film scanners of 4000 dpi or more)

Medium Format Scanner: Epson 4990 Flatbed scanner. No, not up to a good medium format film scanner, but not bad either.

UPDATE: I returned to digital capture Jan. 2008, with a Canon 40D and two prime lenses: Canon 50 f1.4 and Sigma 30 f1.4.   I also have the Canon 20mm f2.8 but I don’t use that very often.  Most processing is now being done with Adobe Lightroom.

Thanks for posting this.

My first question when I saw “Laugh, Times Square” ( http://beckermanphoto.com/2008/03/27/laugh-times-square/ ) was what camera/lens combo. Such gorgeous detail and bokeh. So instead of posting the question I’m sure you get a gazillion times, I decided to look around.

Yet another example of why I need (OK, want) a Leica/Voightlander combo.

Bill, this list is out of date. Dave is now using a Canon 40D with a Sigma 30/1.4 and a Canon 50/1.4.

BTW, printing through Qimage (WinXP) on a HP Z3100 works quite fine…
