New York Corner

31 March, 2008 (18:27) | New Yorkers, who knows | 4 comments

It feels as if everyone took their proper places in this shot. Weather: film noir. Dogwalkers: Ready. Headlights on: Check. Now when I say ‘action,’ I want the lady with the shawl to step on the curb; and you - delivery guy on bike, make sure to take a beat before […]

14 March, 2008 (13:40) | New Yorkers, Subway, who knows | 7 comments

With the recession settling in, many retailers have been selling mannequins a la carte. Here, KMart is having a sale on mannequin legs. What the legs are used for, I’m not sure, but they come complete with beach slippers (rubber soles) and slacks.

IN THE DREAM, I was about 25 years old. That’s three decades ago. My father and I were in an expansive room in a small country house, and I had my darkroom equipment around me. Trays, and a 4×5 enlarger that I never actually owned but had seen in catalogs.
I was trying […]

Yanks & Mets

27 September, 2007 (10:04) | who knows | 7 comments

Congrats to the Yanks. And please check me into Bellevue where they have a special wing set up for Mets fans. It’s called the, “OMG Not Again Wing.”
This is the season when no lead is large enough; no opposing team bad enough; and no amount of explanation lucid enough. This is the […]
