That’s a lot of heat for a book store.

The pages gold-gilded? ;)

I first noticed city police in B&N stores a few weeks ago. Sometimes at the door, and sometimes roaming the stores. I don’t know but I found it weird. Don’t really remember seeing city police in any other stores but I don’t shop all that much. Anyway, I found it odd.

A bit of anecdotal evidence. I went into B and N the other day looking for a book on how to treat an enlarged prostate, when I noticed that I was being followed by an attractive colleged-aged woman with glasses. She managed to corner me in the self-help section.

“You look like the intellectual type,” she said. “I’ve been looking for this old book about a doctor in England who falls for a hooker, and I can’t remember the title.”

“Of Human Bondage. Somerset Maugham,” I replied, recalling the title and author from a recent episode of Jeopardy.

“That’s it! Thank you so much. Where would I find that?”

One thing led to another and I found myself at a table with her sipping cappucino and disclosing my very personal medical condition, where upon she revealed that she was a physical therapy major at NYU who paid her tuition by doing side jobs. We agreed on a price and were about to leave the store, when a cop suddenly appeared and handcuffed the young lady.

I thank my lucky stars that B and N has the foresight to let the NYPD patrol its aisles.

Les - that story bears a striking resemblance to how you met your fourth wife.

True. If Barnes and Noble had police posted back then, it would have saved me thousands in alimony.
