Dream Couch #1

Dream Couch

The couch was in front of my house. I couldn’t wander around today because I was expecting a delivery so whenever I came downstairs I photographed people walking by the couch. I’d say that maybe one out of 30 people noticed the writing on the couch. I don’t think the couch will disappear until the weekend so I’ll try and do some more.

DAY 2 - DAWN

dreamcouch25990 Dream Couch #1

6 A.M. James De La Vega couch is recognized. Passerby hunts around for something to cut a piece of fabric with; picks up nearby twig and takes a piece of the couch on his way to work.

When the cat woke me at 5 a.m. I had been dreaming about the second law of - what physics - the entropy principle. Why does everything rust, fall-apart, turn to dust. What is up with the universe and this whole expanding to the point of extinction. I thought that energy plus mass were always the same. But they say that at some point the universe will be pretty much empty.

(This shows what happens when you watch an episode of that Universe show before retiring). Anyway, I was thinking about this stuff as the couch began to be dismembered.

* * * DAY 3 ***

You’re lucky — the couch disappeared today!

Unless it’s a forgery, that tag looks like the work of graffiti artist James De La Vega. You have a photograph of another of his works with the same title in your new catalogue. That couch could be worth thousands of dollars.

Lester - I have about 20 other shots of his work going back at least five years. Some of it quite elaborate and beautiful. I have no idea if he did this one or not. Most of the things I’ve seen of his are more than quick tags - but who knows.

Hey there,

Just playing with some street photography myself and recently posted this picture

which is also of the “become your dream” artist. Didn’t know anything about it, until a comment from a contact led me to your sight. Very interesting!
