Image Gallery with Wordpress 2.5

12 April, 2008 (14:48) | black and white photography

When I read that Wordpress 2.5 has a built-in photo gallery, I upgraded and thought I’d give it a try.

I can’t believe how long it took to get this to work. The main problem was uploading the image through their flash module. After trying a bunch of things, I found a patch that removes the flash uploader, and just uses a straight html uploader. So far it’s working.

Here’s the sticky solution (I’m using the last thing at the very bottom of the page to replace the flash uploader).

It wasn’t on my todo list - I can tell you that. Okay - now you can tell me whether it shows up in your readers or not.

I also put together a quick and dirty book from my fathers’ 84th birthday with MyPublisher. I didn’t have the time or money to do this with SharedInk. It took about an hour and I’ll have a few copies in a week.

I’ll be at the Mets game tomorrow, so that should clear my head. I wish I could figure out some spectacular way to shoot that big ugly stadium before they tear it down. I’ve shot it with infrared, and tri-x. Tomorrow maybe the 40D will bring me some magic back. And it would be nice if I could find my glasses! I’ve been doing all this 40D shooting without my glasses using the diopter.

My suggstion for shooting Shea: the neighborhood fans who supported them forever, who will not be able to afford tickets in the new seat-reduced, corporate-named stadium. Take a walk up and down Roosevelt Avenue under the 7 train. Wander the upper deck, where the players look like ants. Ask who loves Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Pagan. In the hearts of true Met fans, Shea will live forever as the Flushing coliseum. Give it your best, Dave.

Looks great in Google Reader as well as FF, IE7 and Safari.
