Street Photography - Underground
[Power Circle, Grand Central Sta.]

I thought this was a pretty comprehensive view of street photography, i.e. what it is (no one really knows); and what is legal (most things): Wiki Street Photography.
When the police, or security guards tell you that you can’t photograph a public place - they are breaking the law. Frankly, you could tape them, or have someone secretly videotape them; and then sue them for infringing on your civil rights. You may lose your camera in the process, but such is the price of free expression.

“I learned this at sensitivity training. You whisper a message to the guy on your right and he whispers it to the guy on his right. And no profanity please.”

Where do this cops hang and most likely take my Canon XTI? Ya see I am looking to get the new XSI but don’t have the cash so I can sue for my civil rights and hopefully get enough moola to get the new Canon

Okay Lester. You hit your stride. Barrett stopped by yesterday - and we were both howling reading your comments outloud. David Letterman is looking for top ten writers.

On a different note, that shot looks mighty good . . . that Sigma/40D Lightroom combination seems to be working very well.
Go well,
Stephen

Hey,
Most times or practically all the time nobody will bother you.
I take pictures often, everywhere. In NYC especially nobody should
bother you because there are so many tourist with cameras….
The only people that bother me are the idiots who look at me
like my camera is worse then a gun or something. I know many
cops and they couldn’t care less what you do. Security guards are
another story though.
Peace,
RaFiKi

Apparently here in Ireland it’s illegal to photograph the police, although I haven’t heard of anyone being stopped doing that. I did refrain from posting a photo of two police officers interviewing what looked like street beggers..

“Okay guys, we’ll start with Wojcinski. Give the number of cameras you confiscated today and then the brand names.”
