Bill Clinton supported NAFTA. Hillary was silent on it back then.
The reality is that the US just can’t cancel the treaty. Nor is renegotiation going to happen. Hillary played the union card to win Ohio. The blue collar types there came out because they think she will get out of NAFTA and that will help them get jobs. The jobs will never come back because of globilization and products made better and cheaper outside the US.
The real problem is that trade unions in this country have out lived there usefulness. Protecting the worker now comes second to how much the union executives can make. The people in Ohio that voted for Clintom because of NAFTA are not sophisticated enough to understaand that Clinton has played politics with this issue.
I voted for Clinton in the primary but really hope that Barack gets the nomination. We need a change from politics as usual.

I’ve seen these these guys in person, on the uptown F around 3 or 4 PM. I seem to recall they had a little lady with them who collected tips. They are called the N.A.F.T.A. Dos XX. The double X refers to the amount of income they report to the IRS. While I’m trying to survive on cat food, Dos XX will be living it up in Acapulco. I hope Barack and Hillary are sincere about renegotiating trade agreements. If I ever see Celine Dion or Avril Lavigne on the F train, I refuse to support Canada by tipping them.
