Maybe the smile in the background — I was just standing there looking at the smiling woman when he burst into frame - and then out again. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Thank you - whoever you are.

What has compelled me to revisit this photo 3 times today? Perhaps it is the exhuberant smile, the friendly wave, the twinkle in the eye meant for a stranger. Or maybe he looks to me like so many new yorkers just looking for a reason to break into a big smile? Is that the secret underbelly of this beast of a city? Nah, he’s just a kooky guy captured flawlessly.
